Munchkins in Oz, nope tiny hominids in Indonesia.

Post by Michael »

http://www.nature.com/news/specials/flo ... l
It sounds too incredible to be true, but this is not a hoax. A species of tiny human has been discovered, which lived on the remote Indonesian island of Flores just 18,000 years ago.

Researchers have so far unearthed remains from eight individuals who were just one metre tall, with grapefruit-sized skulls. These astonishing little people, nicknamed 'hobbits', made tools, hunted tiny elephants and lived at the same time as modern humans who were colonizing the area.

News@nature.com tells the story of a find that changes the world of palaeoanthropology, and challenges our perception of what it means to be human.
This was a great story because I've been hanging around with a bunch of creationist lately. but this is the best part.....
?The discovery of Homo floresiensis makes it much more likely that stories of other mythical, human-like creatures are founded on grains of truth.
Yep if there are little hominids then there is probably a Big Foot out there too. After all scientist only found this goat in 1996..

When I was looking for a Zippy image I came across this site.

It is pretty cool. You can search the image archive to find Zippy comics by keyword. This could be really handy if you were looking for a comic for a talk.
