Got some pictures from the defense talk and after party.
The folks arrived on Wednesday and Hannah and I had dinner with them. I was pretty nervous about the talk so they entertained themselves on Thursday. :oops: Luckily their hotel was right by the University Ave so they could entertain themselves by visiting used bookstores and doing some people watching. I had trouble getting to sleep on Thursday night even though I had a couple glasses of Jack and some Nyquil. :shock:
I woke up early with nervous excitement and a really dry mouth. Hannah and the folks showed up just before the talk. Hannah was more nervous than me.
The talk went pretty well. I was stumped a couple times and at one point I couldn't remember what I just said. I finished off the talk with funny acknowledgements so that is all the people in the audience would remember when they left.
We partied afterwards and through the weekend. My coworkers were really impressed with my folks and some said that they wanted to go and live with them. It was a great visit with the folks.

Hey Mike- congratulations again. Nice cake! Mom said you had a composite of the brothers that you showed at the defence- any chance you can post that? Now that you're a Doc, wonder if you can perhaps help me: I get this pain in my eye whenever I drink tea..... what can I do?

Here's the pics. I thanked you guys for being such great brothers and then I said what you all do for a living. People love hearing all the -ologies.

Thanks for posting all the pictures from your defense, looks like you had a great time! I especially like the genetics pin-up calendar where you were using the dissecting scopes to find what was in your laps.......
