Popperton Park fire

About 3PM I was reading on the sofa and Mom was napping. She got up, came into the family room, and shouted "The Park is on fire!" It had just started and was coming up the hill fast. I called 911 and got the fire department going. For the next three hours the fire guys were all over the hill. It was out by 5pm, and a couple guys hung around to see it didn't start up again. Very exciting!
Fortunately the wind began from the west (left) and then changed to the east so the fire worked to the right, away from our wall. It did come close to Jim's wall near Virginia Street, where a bunch of sage brush went up with a roar.
We both mow the park out about 20 feet a couple times a year, and I'm sure it will be 40 feet from now on!
Last year I posted pictures of the Fire Department practice exercises in exactly the same place!
There is a big fire in the Stansburys, west of Tooele, and the air here is full of smoke today. I keep checking to be sure it isnt the park again!
