Last camping trip with the Jeep

We went to our usual spot above Ferron Sunday, the 27th, It was monsoon season and lots of thunder showers. On Tuesday we thought we would go fishing and slid down the dirt access track into a tree, head on. No airbag deployed (not sure we even had them on the 2001 jeep). Judy stressed her sternum against the seat belt -I felt like I pushed the steering wheel into the dash, but didn't. We called State Farm and they hauled the jeep off to Price for estimate of damage (and maybe repair). We called David and he and Laura came down on Thursday to take us back to SLC. They stayed two nights, which was good - Dave hadn't been with us in the camper before, and Laura's Dad had a camper when they were growing up. They got out fishing and we had a great fish dinner. The Jeep has now been totaled by St. Farm, and we'll get a check for about what we could have sold it for on the street. We had been looking for a newer used one for the last month, so now we'll accelerate the search!
Mom's aches are getting better so it doesn't look like a medical issue. We realize we're getting older, but that's not a medical issue either!

I got to get out to the site of the accident a week later. Couldn't think of a nicer place to have a car accident! The new Toyota 4Runner performed well at all stages, getting us in and out with the trailer as well as taking us on various fishing excursions. Jason, Steven and Amanda joined us for the last few days. Jason showed me how to catch fish and the kids had a great time. Heard coyotes howling at night and saw lots of humming birds, not least because of my red shirt (surf Doheny!) Had on day of moderate rain and played a game of scrabble, it was chilly but having Remus on hand to act as a foot warmer made it all the more fun.
