Went skating this weekend at the ballard bowl. The city is trying to get rid of this world class skatepark to replace it with a grassy "passive" park. The majority of the community seems to support keeping the bowl but developers want to build town houses nextdoor and they are lobbying pretty hard to destroy the bowl. You can read or listen to the story at these links.

The PSSA (Puget sound skatepark association) had a march this weekend to raise awareness about the need to build more skateparks in Seattle and to save the Ballard bowl.

Skateboarding is the 6th most popular sport in the country and, while there are over 100 baseball diamonds and 50 tennis courts in Seattle, there is only one public skatepark (the Ballard bowl).

So we got together in downtown Seattle for the thousand skater March. It was a pretty fun opportunity to legally skate through the streets of downtown Seattle. Here are some pics.
