Winston and I hit the road for a week to drive out to Idaho for the Eclipse. We hit up Great Basin National Park on the way out so we could see the Bristle Cones and do the Lehman cave tour. We picked up Dave in SLC and headed up to Idaho. Our camp was right by the midline for totallity in the mountains above Mackay and we lucked out with nice private spot on the end of dirt road going up Methodist Creek. Winston and I had a great time camping with Dave and it was amazing to see the eclipse with 2 minutes of totality. We decided we shoud do it again in 2024. The hills outside of Mazatlan should experience 7 minutes of totallity!

Really fun trip. Winston got a good taste of off trail bushwacking. also scared the crap out of me with his rock climbing /scrambling. Eclipse was crazy and a definite life experience (most of which seem to only last 2 minutes, huh). Did mike mention the bear cave by the camp?
