Wow! Look at the original floor and wall paper. What did you do with the green corduroy?

Here are a few pictures of the beginning of week seven. Most of the crown molding is up and the painters have given the walls a first coat. The wood is in for the floor but has to sit for 10 days to "adjust" to the house. Maybe they will begin to lay it next Monday? The sequence is the floor goes in, gets a first coat of finnish, then the cabnets can start to come in. The tiler may start in the bathrooms in the mean time.
We are having a good time living in the basement, and enjoying a lot of time on the patio. It is cool in the downstairs, and outside it is not as hot as it was last year at this time.
So all is well!

The MBR will be a shade of blue. We haven't "colored" the guest BR/bath yet, probably a light green.

Looking really great, what is the estimate for time of completion? It seems like the larger entrance to the dining room is going to make a big difference

Most of the floor and cabnets are in, and the rest of the cabinets are waiting until the counter tops are installed, perhaps in two weeks. They make a template then do the tops. We put in a new gas fireplace, and the "book case" at the end of the room needs a bit of fitting yet. The banister over the stairs has to be replaced because the original is not "code". A child could put it's head between the posts, which we learned some time ago by telling a child not to do it! The floor guy will be here tomorrow to finish the floor. He'll finish the hall and baths, then we can "cabinet" the baths.
We expect that it will all be finished by early August, maybe earlier. That's fine, what we originally expected.

There will be a glass-fronted cabinet (white) here for Judy's good dishes. Lots of pantry space. Ovens go in "wooden" cabinets.

The bathrooms are tiled. Lots of work on trim. Next week the painters (notice the green trim paint in the guest BR - the walls will be that color, and the guest BR too.) Week after: counters, rest of cabnets, painting, then floors to follow, we think!
Going well!

Here are the latest. The floor has been stained and the first coat on top. Two more the week of Sept 8, we hope!
Then the Fridge and Dishwasher go in. Still some crown and baseboard to finish, tune up the cabinets, and hang three lights over the Island. Mirror in the Guest bath, and lights in Master bath to come. Lots of trim painting, misc. plumbing and electrical. Then relay carpet in bedrooms and living room, and shampoo. Whew!

We are in Indy now, having left the last little touch up items for our contractor to finish while we are gone. Here are some pics taken last week. We'll post more when we get home.

Wow, what a total transformation! It looks so light and much bigger. The pictures are much better than on skype. You'll have to look for a special rug for the wooden floor. love Margie
