We were recently clued in by a local guy that there are good oyster mushrooms growing here along the McCloud this time of year. They grow on standing dead alder trunks. We went out and found one such trunk which we harvested three time over a week. First harvest turned into pasta con fungi, second became the best mushroom soup ever, the third (again of about 2-3 lbs) we dried strung on thread behind the woodstove for later. Here are a few snaps of the fresh ones and the dryng. We'll try to remember to get a picture of the beasts in situ next foray.

loved the mushrooms, con de funky!

hope you guys have got something special planned, i'm sure it will be a great day. I've been wondering what its like there at the moment, must be starting to get kinda cold. Are you going to be there for Halloween? probably a long way to go to get anywhere for trick or treating! But seriously, will you be there over winter or do you have other plans and responsibilities?

All the best

More shrooms from MRP. We were able hike down first thing in the morning (on Chris's birthday), pick mushrooms and come back and make a awesome fresh mushroom omelete (he had to make his own birthday breakfast....).
