Well, I made my first trip up to the McCloud over the long Memorial Day weekend. The water was a high due to a blown turbine at one of the reservoirs upstream. The high, fast and the silty water made fishing a bit tough but we managed to land a few. The ticks were out in force. We were picking hundreds of them from our pants but Chris and I only ended up with two implanting. The water and the ticks should be down by July.
We practiced campfire pizza making so we can pull it off for 16 this summer. Lots of good food was had and we even stumbled upon a batch of oyster mushrooms that were growing out season.
On Monday, before heading home to the bay, I traveled north to Klamath Falls, OR to do some skating. I ended up skating with some older dudes in full pads. It turned out they were a couple of pros from way back. I'm not sure who the other guy was but one was Lance Mountain! I got some pictures of him busting some big airs. This guy is probably forty by now and was going six feet out of a ten-foot bowl. It was awesome to get to skate with one of my skate heroes.
An all around great time was had and I'm really looking forward to the trip in July.
