ECLIPSE
We watched the Earth eclipse the Moon.
We saw it from our porch last night.
Warm and clear, the stars were out,
Indeed a most auspicious time
To look on nature’s emptive strength:
To light the night, then turn it dark.
Crescent bar, reducing shadows,
Before the darkness fades the light.
But when all is dark, remains a glow,
Perhaps our Earth-light does rebound
To play across the cratered moon.
Dark, yet there perceived in mind.
The time for us goes quickly by.
In dark we sense the grand display
Has ended, time now to retire,
But crescent, half-moon shine returns.
We think upon the passing light,
The glow begins to smile and spread,
Recurrent brightness illuminates,
Assuring us beyond our night,
Leading us to joys of starry sky,
And twinkling city drama here
Where movement, sounds, and people’s lives
Replay the Moon eclipsed by Earth.

Eclipse
Re: Eclipse
That was tremendous Dad. Thanks for posting. Carrie and I had a good Easter visit with Dave and Pat. We spent Saturday on the Natchez trace which was really neat. Visited the final resting place of M. Lewis and saw a lot of beautiful scenery and wildlife. Dave and Pat were great and took great care of us. They organized live entertainment in the yard (deer and turkeys) and we ate really well (thanks Pat!!).

Yes really nice poem Dad, and also incredibly fast work! We saw it from our porch too. Crazy to think that thing slammed into us and if not for that we might not even be here.
